A few Instagram pictures is all it takes to set the indie rock world ablaze.

After some coy posts spurred interest in the matter, Australia’s Newmarket Studios have confirmed a collaboration between Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile. Details are spare but we know they spent about a week in the studio with in-house producer Callum Barter and, interestingly, the forthcoming material was referred to as a “compilation.”

Vile is currently touring in Australia behind his last LP, 2015’s ‘b’lieve i’m goin down…’ while Barnett’s is reportedly at work on the follow-up to her landmark debut ‘Sometimes I Sit and Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit’ from the same year. The distinctive voices of these modern luminaries make us excited for whatever their partnership has in store. Stay tuned for updates!
