After a five year musical drought, The Killers are back! They bring with them a rather funky new tune to keep fans going until the release of their new album, ‘Wonderful Wonderful’.

‘The Man’ is a groovy, bass driven tune with rich harmonies and soaring synths. It perfectly emulates the sound of ’80s disco. In an interview with Annie Mac, vocalist Brandon Flowers said of the track, “Sonically, it’s pretty funky, funkier than we’ve ever done before”.

The song’s lyrics, presumably, reflect on Flowers’ younger, spunkier and cockier years. In the strutting tune, he refers to himself as “the Man” several times: “I got gas in the tank/ I got money in the bank/I got news for you baby, you’re looking at the man”.

Flowers also pays homage to the late David Bowie with the lyric “headed to the hall of fame”, the last word being sung in a way that is very similar to the way Bowie has sung in his single.

‘Wonderful Wonderful’, which is “soon to be completed” will be the band’s fifth album and the band’s first new material since 2012’s ‘Battle Born’. It is expected to be released sometime later this year.
