Today’s track of the day comes from upcoming artist Scarlett Saunders with the second single ‘Circus’ from her forthcoming EP ‘Blue Again’.
The track possesses a wonderful dream-like quality, as she shows off her warm, bluesy vocals over hypnotic synths. With deeply personal and evocative lyrics, Saunders details the experience of first love, using the youthful imagery of fairgrounds and the circus for a nostalgic, poetic effect.

Hi Scarlett, can you tell us a bit about ‘Circus’ and what it’s about?
Circus is about young love, first love.
What inspires your songwriting?
It’s inspired by pretty much anything. Whatever is going on in my life. Anything I observe and find interesting.
Who are your musical influences?
Everything really! Cat Stevens, Mazzy Star, Nina Simone…
What can people expect from your upcoming release ‘Blue Again’?
Don’t expect anything.
What are your ambitions for your music career?
To keep writing music because I love it.
What else have you got coming up that people should know about?
Writing a new EP at the moment..who knows
