Today’s ‘Track of the Day’ has a real festive feel to it and, if truth be told, is one of the best Christmas releases for many a year.

Quinzhee‘, is a Beach Boys-esque seasonal track out on December 23rd. The Voluntary Butler Scheme, aka one man band Rob Jones, wrote the song on a hot August night when sleep was evading him. “I whispered it all in to my phone and then worked out the chords the next morning. I played it and thought ‘oh that sounds like Christmassy kind of August accident“. The song features French horn, trumpet, saxophone, guitar, bass, drums, piano and rudimentary violin all played by Rob.

Quinzhee’ is taken from the forthcoming Voluntary Butler Scheme album ‘’A Million Ways to Make Gold‘ which is released on 24th February 2014, through Split Records.

The Voluntary Butler Scheme will be showcasing material off his new record, as well as some favorites from his previous albums ‘At Breakfast, Dinner, Tea‘ and ‘Granddad Galaxy‘ on 17th December 2013 at The Macbeth, London, and he’ll be announcing more dates early next year.
