Fruits of Gloom liveWe begin our “Ear Candy” feature with a band from the ecclesiastical parish of Tipperary. An area of Ireland that is more famous for its lush green surroundings and medieval history – this picture postcard town can now add ‘up-and-coming Indie Punk band’ to its ever bulging list of local attractions.

‘The Winter Passing’ are a 5-piece from the aforementioned town. Already the purveyors of two EP’s (‘Scrapbook‘ and a record store day collaboration with ‘Forest’) the band are preparing to release their debut album ‘A Different Space of Mind‘, via FITA Records 26th May 2015.

In anticipation of their forthcoming LP the band have dropped the single ‘Fruits of Gloom’ (see below) – a wonderfully slight and simplistic prelude fuses a steady drum and beautiful layered vocals that then climax to a heady and frenzied crescendo of thrashing guitars – a more perfectly structured and likeable three minutes of indie you could not wish for.

The track seems like a real statement of intent from a band who have also added a number of UK and Irish tour dates to their busy schedule.
