The iconic River Mersey will form the backdrop to a new one-day psych rock festival coming to Liverpool in April – and its line-up promises to be loud.

The WRONG festival will take place on April 22 at the Liverpool Docklands, with Japanese noise rockers Bo Ningen taking the headline spot.

Hosting 30 bands late into the night in a ‘festival for the freakscene’, the line-up also invites Brighton surf-doomers The Wytches and Glasgow psychonauts The Cosmic Dead to the musical capital of the North West.

The one-day event will take place across three venues, with bands lined up to play at newly-opened arts venue Invisible Wind Factory, after-party hotspot The North Shore Troubadour and local DIY venue Drop the Dumbulls.

The brainchild of north-west independent record label Loner Noise, the organisers hope to bring together “disparate scenes from the stranger corners of rock on a freaked-out ride from punk to psychedelia”.

The line-up also includes bands signed to the label, including Elevant, SPQR, Gravves and Pocket Apocalypse.
