Brooklyn’s Coney Island has released the lineup for their second annual Coney Island Music Festival, held jointly by Alliance for Coney Island and Modern Sky USA. Next Saturday, fans will be treated to free concerts on two (2!) different stages, featuring performances from Shannon and the Clams’ Shannon Shaw (who performed at Panorama this weekend), twin brothers’ band The Garden, and the recently formed Public Practice. The event is free and open to the public, so there’s no excuse not to go!

We’re surprised it took Coney Island this long to start organizing a music festival like this– as what better way to bring people together than a shared love of music– but in their defense it can be hard to compete with both the unpredictable waterfront weather, /and/ the rest of the free summer concerts in the city. While last year’s inaugural event found itself pretty EDM and DJ-heavy, this year boasts artists from a multitude of genres, from The Veldt’s shoegaze to The Garden’s experimental, alternative rock. And as word continues to get out about this wonderful, free festival, it’s only expected to grow in the coming years. So if you’re based in New York, or anywhere nearby, clear your plans for Saturday! It’s free!

And as always, stay tuned for our very own recap of the event!
