Alt-J, Sub Focus and Deftones are the first acts to be confirmed for next year’s Reading and Leeds festivals. The 2013 event will take place between Friday 23 and Sunday 25 August.

There’s sure to be much more interest regarding the inclusion of Alt-J after their recent Mercury prize award. The four-piece, who formed while at Leeds University, will play the Radio1/NME stage. The bands album, “An Awesome Wave” contiues to sell well and reached number 13 in the UK album chart.

Festival Republic boss Melvin Benn said: “I’ve got quite a strong buzz and feeling in myself in the changes that I’m making there””I’m still formulating the ideas. There will be quite a bit more dance music, quite a bit more other bits and pieces.”
A new deposit scheme has also been introduced for the ticket presale. Fans can pay a one-off amount of £50 before 31st December to secure a weekend ticket at 2012 prices.
