Conventionally music festivals have always possessed the connotations that of primitive camping, poor hygiene, outlandish behaviour and mass gatherings in fields amongst other things. Within recent years there’s been a mass surge of festivals occurring on cruises, namely around the gulf of Florida. Whilst boasting full scale line ups they also offer the luxury and comfort that perhaps conventional festivals lack.
It’s recently been announced there’ll be another festival to add to the extensive, ever-growing list, entitled simply ‘Southern Rock Cruise’.
As the titled aptly suggests the inaugural festival is paying homage to the southern American style of rock n roll.
Who better to headline the festival than one of the genres pioneers who brought the style out of the country and into the mainstream; Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame inductees Lynyrd Skynyrd who previously hosted their own ‘Simple Man Cruise’ in former years.

According to ABC “Lynyrd Skynyrd’s concert will take place on land on January 22, also featuring a tailgating party offering Jamaican BBQ, tropical cocktails and a reggae band. The cruise also will offer Q&A events, musical demonstrations, as well as activities such as trivia contests, karaoke, movie screenings and pool parties.”
A distinguishable difference to other cruises, which tend to feature performances actually on board the ship.
Joining Skynyrd is the all star line up compromising of: 38 Special; The Marshall Tucker Band; The Outlaws; Molly Hatchet; Atlanta Rhythm Section; Wet Willie and Jaimoe’s Jasssz featuring Allman Brothers founding member Jaimoe among many other acts.
The nautical festival will commence from Tampa, Florida stopping in Jamaica and Georgetown, Grand Cayman, before heading back on January 25, 2018.
