The young Geordie becomes the next instalment in Tara Atkinson’s ‘In Their Own Words’ series as he speaks to us about his new music, Shanghai and performing at his first ever festival!
Have you played D2D before and how are you feeling about performing there?
I’ve never played this festival before………..
Which city are you most looking forward to playing? (Manchester, Bristol, Nottingham)
I’m definitely looking forward to playing Manchester!! The people seem to love their music and have a good time, I feel like it’s going to be a great atmosphere there. But also still can’t wait for Bristol and Nottingham.
From the initial line up, who are you most excited to see?
Well, I recently discovered the headliners Sundara Karma and I absolutely love their new album! So as soon as I found out I was playing D2D this year, I was buzzing. I’ll definitely be watching those guys.
You’ve just released your debut single ‘Princess’, how does it feel to release it into the world?
It was a little bit nerve racking at first because it’s my first ever single! So I wasn’t sure what to expect. But the response has been amazing and it’s great to know that people are really enjoying my music! So now I can’t wait to perform it live to them.
This is one of the first festivals of the year, what was the first festival you went to?
I’ve actually never been to a festival!! I know, shocking! I was meant to go to T in the Park last year with all my friends but ended up doing a gig in London, so that makes this extra exciting for me. I’m going to be performing and attending my first ever festival!
If you had to choose one city to stay in for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This might sound weird but Shanghai, China! I don’t know why but I’ve always had an obsession with it and wanted to visit. It just looks so futuristic and cool.
What can we expect from you in the next few months?
The next few months include my EP release (out now), a few festivals over the summer (including D2D) and maybe even record and release another EP, I’ve written so many new songs that I can’t wait to get out to the public!
Why should fans make the effort to catch your set?
The fans should definitely check out my set because it’s going to be so much fun, I’m ready to have a good time and we can all share my first festival experience together!! I can’t wait.
