As Dot To Dot draws nearer, North London based Tender are the latest instalment in our ‘In Their Own Words’ feature. The duo’s name is extremely fitting as they deliver tender, electro-indie, chilled beats into our ears with the new single ‘Erode’. And with their debut album coming this summer, we can only wait to be blown away by more of their majestic “ downtempo, vibey sex music.”

They stopped by to chat with GIGsoup’s Tara Atkinson about D2D, Parcels and their love of LA.

Have you played D2D before and how are you feeling about performing there?

We haven’t played it before as Tender, however James played it before in an old band.

Which city are you most looking forward to playing? (Manchester, Bristol, Nottingham)

All three cities are really good fun and we played all of them in November so we’re looking forward to returning. It honestly would be tough to pick one!

From the initial line up, who are you most excited to see?

We’re looking forward to seeing Parcels again. We watched them a few weeks ago at Moth Club in London and they blew us away. They’re outrageously good live.

Congratulations on your new single ‘Erode’, how does it feel to release it into the world?

It’s great to have it out there. We’ve been sitting on it for a while as part of our debut album and it’s quite a good taster for the album in a broader sense.

This is one of the first festivals of the year, what was the first festival you went to?

The first we ever went to happens to be the same one, although we didn’t go together. It was Reading Festival in 2003.

If you had to choose one city to stay in for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Probably LA. Some more sunshine, a slower pace of life, but very diverse and a ton of creativity always surfacing. Plus, some awesome Mexican food thrown into the mix.

What can we expect from you in the next few months?

We’ll be putting out some more singles and videos ahead of our debut album in the summer. We’ll also be playing a lot more shows.

Why should fans make the effort to catch your set?

For downtempo, vibey sex music, basically.
