A week on from the release of new EP ‘Drunk’, London four-piece Anteros are not standing still nor sipping on the champagne taste of success, the band instead are looking forward to a return to The Great Escape next month as they look to continue their seemingly certain rise to the top. Not only do they hold all of the pertinent appeal to contemporary Indie crave so many have been longing for, the bands continuing desire to improve and unearth new avenues of their musical creativity arguably is what sets them in such good stead for the year ahead.
After successful tours with Blaenavon and Two Door Cinema Club, Anteros get to hold their own party at their ‘Drunk’ EP Launch at The Sebright Arms next week before heading back to Brighton for the The Great Escape. GIGsoup’s Ben Bowman caught up with the band before their eagerly-anticipated return to the festival at which they flourished last year.
How does it feel to be playing The Great Escape 2017?
It feels great. Festivals are always a good opportunity to introduce your music to new people.
What do you know about the festival?
We’re looking forward to it. We played it last year and had a really good time. The Great Escape is great because it takes over the whole city centre – and it’s easy to get around – so you bump into friends and you rarely miss gigs.
What can we expect from your set at The Great Escape?
We’ll be playing tracks from our new EP, Drunk (out April 14th).
What do you know about the other acts playing this year and who would you like to check out?
There’s so many acts we want to catch. Drones Club, Dream Wife, HMLTD, Dead Pretties, Dagny….
What is the best thing about Brighton? / Have you been to Brighton before?
Yeah, we love Brighton. We’re looking forward to another burger at Burger Brothers, and Laura always gets lost inside vintage shops in the Lanes.
What were you doing this time last year?
We were releasing our debut EP, BREAKFAST.
When you go to the Beach what can you not go without?
Laura takes her neck scarves everywhere to keep her hair / bangs in check, Josh needs sun cream or he burns; Jackson doesn’t go anywhere without headphones, and Harry can’t go without a ball.
What is the best seaside holiday you’ve been on?
Collectively? We’ve yet to go on one!
What’s your favourite thing to get from the Ice Cream Van?
What are your plans for the rest of the Summer?
We’ve got a summer filled with gigs, festivals, writing and recording…and hopefully a seaside holiday ha!
