It looks like Josh Homme and Dave Grohl might be working on a new project together. Eagles Of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes posted a photo of him, Homme and Grohl together on Instagram yesterday – the photo (above) was quickly removed but not before being seen by thousands.
Troy Sanders of Mastodon recently let slip in an interview that Josh Homme’s Queens Of The Stone Age will be releasing new material this year and Grohl has been an official member of QOTSA in the past, first drumming with the band in 2002 for their seminal ‘Songs For The Deaf’. He later contributed drums to a handful of tracks on 2013’s ‘…Like Clockwork’. In 2009 Homme and Grohl formed a supergroup, ‘Them Crooked Vultures’, with Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones; so talks for a new TCV album may be in the works, although the lack of Jones in the photo makes that unlikely. It’s also possible that Grohl simply dropped in on an Eagles Of Death Metal session, as both Homme and Hughes are in the band.
