Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers are among a handful of music icons set to appear in Terrence Malick’s new film ‘Song To Song’. The latest drama by the critically-acclaimed director of ‘The Thin Red Line’ and ‘The Tree Of Life’ stars Rooney Mara, Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender, and tells a tale of love, seduction and betrayal across the Austin Texas music scene.

Florence Welch, Lykke Li and The Black Lips will also appear, and there are rumours of involvement by Arcade Fire, Iron & Wine, John Lydon and Fleet Foxes. Malick has been filming material for the picture since late 2011, including interviews and live performances. Footage from Austin gigs of Christian Bale playing bongos with Fleet Foxes and Rooney Mara joining The Black Lips on guitar is also slated to be part of the project.
‘Song To Song’ will have its world premiere at South by Southwest Festival on March 10th, and will be released fully on March 17th.
