Shabazz Palaces are set to release two new albums this summer. ‘Quazarz: Born a Gangster Star’ was reported a fortnight ago and will now be joined by the newly announced ‘Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines’.
They will be the third and fourth LP’s to be released by the experimental hip hop duo, who were formed in 2009 by Digable Planets co-founder and THEESatisfaction collaborator Ishmael ‘Butterfly’ Butler, and fellow Seattle rapper Tendai ‘Baba’ Maraire, also of Chimurenga Renaissance.
‘Quazarz: Born a Gangster Star’ will feature guest appearances from the likes of Thundercat and Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, while ‘Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines’ will include collaborations with Fly Guy Dai of Chimurenga Renaissance, Amir Yaghamai, John Carroll Kirby, Morgan Henderson, Purple Tape Nate, Thaddillac, amongst others.
Both albums will be available on July 14th via Sub Pop, and will look to continue on from where their critically acclaimed 2011 debut ‘Black Up’ and 2014’s equally praised follow-up ‘Lese Majesty’ left off. Check out the cover art for both albums below.
