According to one of the UK’s biggest promoters, David Bowie will never tour again.
John Giddings is a promoter for the Isle of Wight festival and told Music Week that Bowie had personally told him that he had no plans for a tour.
The release of ‘Next Day’ in 2013 was a huge surprise at the time, with fans hoping that the legendary singer would return to live performing. However, it appears this news will dash the hopes of many who were hoping to see Bowie on stage again.
Giddings said, “David is one of the best artists I’ve ever worked with. But every time I see him now, before I even speak to him, he goes, ‘I’m not touring’ and I say, ‘I’m not asking’.”
He goes on to say, “(Bowie) has decided to retire and, like Phil Collins, you can’t demand these people go out there again and again and again. I’m really pleased and proud that the last show he ever did in the UK was the 2004 Isle Of Wight Festival.”
