Owen Pallett is a Canadian composer, violinist, keyboardist and vocalist, previously known as Final Fantasy. From the age of three Owen studied classical violin and composed his first piece at age 13, and has go onto score film music and operas. In January 2014 Owen Pallet and William Butler were nominated for Best Original Score at the 86th Academy Awards for their work on ‘Her’. His last album ‘In Conflict’ was a shortlisted nominee for the 2014 Polaris Music Prize.
Nicholas Krgovich is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with No Kids, Gigi and P:ano. He has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia and has collaborated with artists such as Mount Eerie, Nite Jewel and Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors. On Sunset the latest album from Nicholas Krgovich stands as a rich, widescreen paean to a lost Los Angeles. A smog-smudged dreamscape filled with loners, washed-up movie stars, dreams, drifters, blooming jasmine and glowing courtyard pools, all twinkling and haunting the Hollywood Hills.
Toronto’s Chris A Cummings, better known as Marker Starling latest album ‘Rosy Maze’ is the follow-up to acclaimed 2010 Mantler album ‘Monody’, which featured collaborations with Arcade Fire associate Owen Pallett. ‘Rosy Maze’ is a sanguine dream of McCartney pop, Brazilian bossa nova, 1960s movie soundtrack sparkle and stoned Beach Boys baroque melodies. Across four years and written across fifteen, the record – Cummings’ first as Marker Starling having blazed trails in Canadian avant-pop under the guise of Mantler since 2000 – has slow-burned into existence, maturing with its maker, who became a dad for the first time during its making.
