On the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, a music festival emerges to kick off every summer. LaureLive is hosted at the Laurel School for girls and boasts prominent folk, blues, and soul artists. Past line-ups have consisted of major names such as Grace Potter, Elle King, ZZ Ward, and The Head and the Heart. It is no surprise that the Laurel School for girls acquires bold, strong female acts when their mission is to help girls fulfil their promises to the world for the betterment of humanity. Among these powerful female acts have also been powerful, male driven acts such as Gary Clark Jr. and Cobi, along with local sensations SamFox and Welshly Arms.
The days of Cleveland being a mistake on the lake have long surpassed us while locals line up this summer to hear Foster the People and Brandi Carlile headline LaureLive. Brandi is taking her sixth studio album “By The Way, I Forgive You” out on the road. Songs that speak truth about the ones who have been left out, ones who have never fit the mold, and ones who struggle to find who they are in love and life. An inspirational, rock driven album with heart-string tugging piano numbers remind us of the Brandi Carlile we have grown to know and love. Her lyrics enter you into a world of belonging, a collective experience we should be so lucky to share. Several local vendors and breweries will be around to enhance your Cleveland experience.
Catch her performing alongside performers Stephen Marley and Matisyahu June 9th and 10th. Tickets for the weekend are $115 for two day admission or $75 for a day pass, until the rates raise on the first! If you live for the experience of enjoying music outdoors as a collective whole, this is surely one worth having!
