The Twang are back on home turf at Inner City Live: Birmingham

The Twang were formed by singer Phil Etheridge and bassist Jon Watkins after they studied music tech together at Kidderminster college in 2004. Guitarist Stu Hartland joined in 2005 and the band quickly won a reputation for raucous and eventful gigs. Their local following grew until B-unique Records (home to Kaiser Chiefs, The Automatic and The Ordinary Boys) signed them up in 2007. Within months they had their first NME cover and were being hailed as ‘Britain’s Best New Band’. Their debut single ‘Wide Awake’ hit #15 and was followed by ‘Either Way’ which crashed into the top 10 at #8. Their debut album ‘Love It When I Feel Like This’ was swiftly released and was a massive hit, reaching #3. From there on, The Twang became one of Birmingham’s biggest musical exports, performing sold out shows across the country, including Brixton Academy and a headline slot on the John Peel stage at Glastonbury. To date they have released a further three studio albums including top 20 hit ‘Jewellery Quarter’, named after the area of Birmingham in which they were living. A new album ‘If Confronted Just Go Mad’ is scheduled for release in November 2019, and The Twang will no doubt treat the Inner City Live crowds to a few upfront tracks.
