American pop star Britney Spears has now officially claimed the title of top-earning woman in music, after edging past Taylor Swift. Spears brought in £35.9 million last year. Swift was a very close second earning £35.3 million.

Most of Spears earnings were down to the sales of her current album, “Femme Fatale”, and her popular perfume range. “Femme Fatale” was Spear’s 7th studio. Spear’s is also a regular on American XFactor which has certainly helped indorse her music and product range.

R&B star Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, 28 rounded up the top five.
