Elbow front man and radio personality, Guy Garvey has been appointed the title of artistic director for next year’s Meltdown Festival.
Since it’s inception in 1993, Meltdown festival has been directed by many cultural figures such as; Massive Attack, David Bowie, Jarvis Cocker and Patti Smith.
Having performed in 2008’s festival, Garvey has shown passion about his new role stating that he wants his Meltdown to be a way of “a party where everyone feels invited and everyone leaves having had the best night out.” He has also bragged of his plans to “shine a light on new talent… recognising and celebrating the artists that have had an influence on the new sounds of today“.
This news is follows the announcement of Garvey’s solo record; ‘Courting The Squall’ which is released on October 30th 2015 via Polydor.
