La Femme touched down in London this week for an unashamedly French showdown at The Sebright Arms. If you missed them live you can get your paws on their debut album soon (November 11th 2013). The LP ‘Psycho Tropical Berlin’ was a big hit in their capital, managing to snag the digital number 1 spot.

Despite their geographically challenged location, La Femme are a collective of French surf-pop connoisseurs. When debut album ‘Psycho Tropical Berlin’ was released earlier this year in their home country La Femme became the cover darlings for the countries biggest music publication Magic, this summer they made crowds dance across Europe’s premier festivals. With the album now set to be released in the UK this November, word is set to spread to these shores.

From La Femme’s fluid line-up and travels comes Psycho Tropical Berlin; a mille-feuille of psychedelia, rockabilly, electro, and punk infused surf. Inspired by a love of vintage sounds made by Gene Vincent, The Velvet Underground and Kraftwerk what has emerged is a grim-meets-glam genre of its own; like a new-wave rave filtered through The Ventures’ back catalogue.
