Danish act Phlake have delivered their fresh new single, ‘Waited All Summer’ featuring rising singer, Mercedes. A rich and sumptuous slice of the Phlake’s soulful signature sound, ‘Waited All Summer’ utilises the vocal of Mercedes and oozes hints of breakbeat drums and saxophone samples that transport the listener to early 90’s tones. The duo’s new single follows the release of their 2017 album Weird Invitations, which was certified Gold.
One of the fastest rising acts to come out of Denmark in recent times, Phlake is comprised of vocalist Mads Bo and producer Jonathan Elkær. The duo propelled themselves into the spotlight in 2016 with their debut album, Slush Hours. The album went 2 x Platinum, awarded ‘Best Album 2016 by Apple Music and was a solid fixture in the Top 20 of the Danish Album Chart for over a year. Slush Hours went on to win five Danish Grammys, including ‘Best Danish Album’. Not stopping there, album tracks ‘Angel Zoo’ and ‘Pregnant’ have both received double platinum awards.
Over the course of their career so far, Phlake have surpassed over 120 million global streams to date and have performed sold-out headline shows in Copenhagen, London, Berlin, Amsterdam and Oslo. The duo have also performed on the renowned Orange Stage at Roskilde Festival in their native Denmark. This month, Phlake will tour across their motherland once more, having already sold-out shows in Copenhagen.
Phlake’s new single proves good things really do come to those who wait. ‘Waited All Summer’ is a solid display of their current sound, dubbed as ‘rhythm & balls’ on account of their brave chord sequences. Set to become the soundtrack to their upcoming live shows, ‘Waited All Summer’ is certain to add to Phlake’s tremendous success they’ve received so far.
