Everyone’s favourite sister trio is back with new music and a new album. HAIM just revealed the cover for their sophomore album, ‘Something To Tell You’ (out 7th July).
The girls have already released their lead single, ‘Want You Back’. It has the original HAIM charm that was seen on their first record, ‘Days Are Gone’. Although the track has a fun, upbeat, summery vibe it’s lyrics are almost the opposite. Similar to ‘If I Could Change Your Mind’, on the first record, ‘Want You Back’ is an apology to a former lover for leaving them, and a request to be taken back.
Although ‘Want You Back’ is the new album’s lead single, ‘Right Now’ was the song that gave us the first taste of ‘Something To Tell You’. It was first introduced to the world through a one-shot, live recording directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. In true HAIM fashion, the song plays on the themes of love and loss. It continues to built up bit by bit using simple keys, cymbals, the piano, gritty guitar work and of course, HAIM‘s signature drum work.
Other than this, the trio will also be playing on SNL, hosted by Melissa McCarthy on 13th May. They have said that they will be playing a lot of shows this summer, although dates have yet to be revealed.
