Musical/Visual Artist, Calvin Arsenia, the Kansas City born and raised, harpist, singer and multi-instrumentalist just released his new single, “Headlights”. The track is from his upcoming music/art project Cantaloupe.
“Headlights” is Calvin’s response to years of looking for love in all the wrong places. And realizing that self-love and a sense of self worth as he says, “..is not contingent upon someone else’s participation.” The track resonates Calvin’s undeniable sensibility and romanticism with its lush and ambient delivery.
Calvin produced this single along with Jametatone (a.k.a J. Ashley Miller, Thiefist, Ssion) and Simon Huntley in Miller’s home studio The Infoaming Vertex in Kansas City, MO. The track was mastered by David Kutch (Solange, Alicia Keys) from New York’s legendary The Mastering Palace.
Calvin began life in Kansas city and as an African-American man, with a towering stature, (he is 6’6) lead him to often feeling like an outlier within his small suburban neighborhood. Refusing to accept this experience as alienating, he turned to music to explore and make sense of his situation. While initially gravitating towards piano and guitar, Calvin Arsenia found a unique outlet for his creativity in the Celtic harp.
While on tour, Calvin focuses on creating perfect moments for his audiences. He explains, “I like to create environments that stimulate all senses. Through the use of my music, special lighting, physical movement and particular smells. I want anyone that attends a performance to walk away transformed.” Calvin’s performances have brought him all over the world, from Scotland to Norway and Australia to Morocco.
