From one east coast to another, LEAONE (pronounced ‘Lee-own’) returns to Suffolk after spending the summer in the Bohemian Ghetto – that is Bushwick.
Working from Transmitter Park Studios in Brooklyn New York, alongside multi-instrumentalist and producer Tom Marsh (of Lana Del Rey’s band) and Abe Seiferth (Yeasayer, Bears In Heaven, James Murphy), Leaone has a body of new material to follow up the two EP’s he released last year on Fierce Panda records. The trip was made possible with grateful support from the Arts Council England’s International fund.
Leaone’s first new offering is digital single ‘Black Rose’, coming November 21st. Self produced and mixed in his ‘retirement’ bungalow on the Lowestoft coast, ‘Black Rose’ fixates on a volatile relationship. Inspired by his past relationships, or perhaps by his recent fascination and repeated viewing of 1983 American mob film ‘Scarface’, and the turbulent relationship between main characters Elvira and Tony…. I wonder.
Intriguingly, in an interview with M Magazine last year, when asked why music was important Leaone replied: “Because it helps to contain my madness”. A train of thought that remains evident in the triumphant B-side ‘The Swans Will Sing’, where Leaone wildly proclaims “I’ve been up with the birds, I’ve partied up on mars.” Keep watching those stars.…
