“Sleazy, slutty, dynamic riffage!”
Apparently that’s what the hotly anticipated Reigning Days album will be like according to drummer Joe Sansome.
Reigning days in 2016 were a band of busy nomads, touring widely and snatching studio time when they could. Supporting Feeder, playing Download, appearing on a video game soundtrack, Dan Steer being nominated for guitarist of the year by Total Guitar mag, achieving their first London headline gig and, not least of all, having a baby. We asked them about last years EP, the new album and Jonny’s new role as a parent.

“The 2016 EP tracks will feature on the new album, so it’s a snap shot as to what you’re gonna hear in 2017!
I think we currently have around 11/12 completed tracks for the album that has been recorded in between festivals and tours over the last year in London. We’re still currently working on tracks at the moment so we’re hoping to have at least another 2/3 down for the time the album is released!
I don’t think having a dad in the band has changed the dynamic much, when we get together to work/write/tour etc we’re very much focused on the job at hand so it’s never really been an issue!
We have something really special in the pipeline, no hints at the moment unfortunately, can’t go sticking my neck on the line while there is still a few small details to wrap up!”
So 2017 is set to be a year of changes, already they’ve appeared in more than one list of ones to watch. If you like Royal Blood, Muse, big riffs and quality tunes then Reigning Days may be one for you this year.
