The electronic music scene has been building up traction over the last few years, with French house music dominating the European dance scene in the early 2000s. Greatly influenced by the emergence of disco and the lineage of American dance music that followed, the movement led to the commercial success of a number of artists, including Daft Punk, Cassius and Stardust.
Most recently, these synthetic sounds have transgressed into ambient mixes and delicate trance singles. Newcomer Yann Sella is at the forefront of this movement, with the release of his debut single ‘Turning Circles’ showcasing the French DJ’s impeccable talent.
The track takes the listener on a journey with no explicit itinerary, utilising a myriad of instruments and pads to curate a truly beautiful soundscape. The powerful synths and strings are heightened by the inclusion of MANCHESTER RAIN’s haunting vocals, which open the door of the listener’s imagination. The accompanying video is also visually striking, with Yann revealing in a recent interview that the video was shot and produced by MANCHESTER RAIN, showcasing a sequence of events curated to reflect our own life journey.
Hailing from Lyon, Yann grew up listening to rap, electronic and classical music. Receiving his first PC six years ago, the French newcomer quickly became a talented producer, influenced by the electronic musings of Jon Hopkins, SOHN and Hans Zimmer.
His debut single will be officially released on 8th August via Subdust Records, and we’re excited about what’s to come! Check out the video below.
