Noel Gallagher has said that he will work with Damon Albarn on the new Gorillaz album if he calls him and asks.
Albarn is currently working on new material for the animated band for the first time since ‘The Fall’ was released in 2011. Quoted in The Daily Star, Gallagher has stated that he is aware of this, and would be willing to record something for it: “He’s making a new Gorillaz album and he’s got my number, so he’s only got to ask. There is talk of doing something but I’m not sure what it is.”
Busy schedules may provide some obstacles however: “You can bet your life the minute I finish this tour he’ll go out on his. I mean trying to get the two of us in the same room would be a f****** miracle. But I’m certainly open to the idea, for sure.”
It would have seemed impossible in the nineties, but the pair seem to have moved on from their Britpop beef in recent years, forming an unlikely friendship. Because of this, rumours of a joint project have been circulating for a while, but it looks like the ball is in Damon’s court for now…
