Anne Clark better known as St Vincent has announced her directing debut for the upcoming horror film ‘XX’.
An anthology of four dark tales from an all-female directorial, ‘XX’ also features the works of Karyn Kusama (The Invitation), Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound) and Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured Bird).
St Vincent directs the short story titled ‘The Birthday Party’ which from the looks of the trailer features a somewhat eerie looking panda costume. The film was announced back in 2013 but has since had the line-up swapped around, with Kusama and Vuckovic being the only two who were in the original team.
It is the creative brainchild of both Vuckovic and Todd Brown of XYZ Film, who noticed that horror films are often the creation of males, with women sparsely involved in the genre at all.
As well as its directors, ‘XX’ has a predominantly female cast including Natalie Brown, Melanie Lynskey, and Breeda Wool. The film is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah this year before been released in cinemas, and onto video-on-demand services come February 17.
On top of this cinematic venture, St Vincent has announced her line of signature guitars, with one model specifically paying tribute to the late David Bowie.
