London math/emo/shoegaze quartet The Yacht Club have signed to Beth Shalom Records for their debut album, The Last Words That You Said To Me Have Kept Me Here And Safe, which is set for release on 25th January 2018.

The band are streaming lead single ‘Heigham Park’ in full today, with a special album launch show planned for 26th January 2018 at The Sebright Arms in London.

The album is largely informed by their personal experiences of recovering from the grief and fallout of suicide, and packed full of pathos and emotion.

Commenting on the single, front man Marcus said: “Whilst the whole record deals with a period of immense grief and recovery, this song is one of the more blatant and upfront in terms of feelings about Blythe’s suicide. Heigham Park was one of the places our group of friends would spend our summers or evenings after school, and shortly after the funeral a bench was put there for him. When I’ve needed time to think I’ve gone and sat there hoping for the advice and support he used to give me.

“This was one of the first songs I wrote for the album, and I remember playing to Alex and he summed it up well: it’s much more of an ‘I love you’ song rather than an ‘I miss you’ song, although the double edge is still very much there.”
