Wye Oak have shaken things up for their new album, ‘Shriek’, which was released this week on City Slang to torrents of praise. Now, with their UK tour just over a month away, they reveal a new video for lead single ‘Glory’.
‘Glory’, currently in heavy rotation at BBC 6music, has received high praise across press & radio. The track showcases the Baltimore duo’s drastically new approach to songwriting, with guitars swapped for bass, and keyboards leading the way for Jenn Wasner’s vocals, which sound richer & more heady than ever before.
The new video was created by by Michael Patrick O’Leary and Ashley North Compton. In their words it: “explores an internal and external power struggle and a fear of loss of control—through the lens of youth, anxiety, ease and tension”.
Having already road-tested the new material at SXSW, Coachella, an intimate show at The Lexington in London a couple of months ago plus a US tour with Future Islands, Wye Oak will be returning to Europe for a full UK tour throughout May and June. They have also been added to the line up for this year’s End of the Road Festival.
