Dance-punk pioneers LCD Soundsystem have announced a five day residency in the hipster haven of Brooklyn, New York City.
The band, fronted by New Jersey-born musician James Murphy, reunited last year following a five year hiatus, and celebrated with a string of festival dates, including Glastonbury and Primavera Sound. Murphy and co announced a new album for 2017, their first record since 2010’s, ‘This is Happening’, and were forced to cancel several tour dates in order to complete recording.
LCD Soundsystem will play five shows at Brooklyn Steel – fast becoming one of the hottest venues in the borough – between April 6th and April 11th, with no show on the evening of the 9th.

Regarding the new album, Murphy stated on Twitter that they were, ‘still working on it, but it’ll be done soon”, and admitted that: “Winter tends to mess with my voice, so finishing the thing drags out.”
Very little is known about the new album – Murphy has not released a title, release date or track names, though the album may well include the track, ‘Christmas Will Break Your Heart’, the groups first and only new song released since their reunion.
Alongside their Brooklyn residency, LCD Soundystem have confirmed that they will perform at a number of US festivals this summer, including Pitchfork Music Fest, Shady Knees Festival and Forecastle Festival, as well as Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. No UK festival or tour dates have been announced as of yet.
