Neil Diamond announced on Monday he is cancelling his plans to continue his March tour dates in Australia and New Zealand. Just shy of his 77th birthday, the singer announced his recent diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, a condition that effects the brain. Tickets from the upcoming shows are being refunded. Diamond’s wife expressed gratitude on social media to concertgoers who donated their refunds to Parkinson’s research.
The vocalist’s popular 50th anniversary tour had dates in the United States and England in through 2017. Diamond’s website explained the abrupt end of the tour came from doctor’s advice and while he will no longer be on the road, he will continue to record and make music. The Grammy Award winner will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, January 28th.
