‘Damn Country Music’ is the fourteenth studio album to be released by Tim McGraw. He is, without question, one of the most well-known country artists and has enjoyed one of the most successful careers of anyone in his field. ‘Damn Country Music’ is his third album to be released by Big Machine. It is produced my McGraw himself, alongside long term collaborator Byron Gallimore and features a range of tracks that bridge the gap between contemporary and traditional country music.

‘Top of the World’ is the first single to be released from the album and has already charted at number 18 in the Top 40 Hot Country Songs Chart. It is a feel good track, which has already proven to be a crowd pleaser and demonstrates that modern twist McGraw is looking for. Likewise, deluxe edition track, ‘Everybody’s Lookin’’, is further proof that this veteran isn’t stuck in his ways, pushing country music in new directions and showing his diversity.

On the other hand, ‘Don’t Make Me Feel At Home’ is proof that McGraw has held true to his own humble beginnings. Written about a time when his own children were growing up, it emotes a great message of patience and diligence.

McGraw’s daughter, Gracie, features in a duet with her father on ‘Here Tonight’. Needless to say, she harmonises well with her father, and this is definitely not going to be the last we hear of her. McGraw’s collaboration with his daughter isn’t the only one on this album, and he also brings in country stars Big & Rich to perform on the track ‘California’.

Overall, the album shows the evolution of Tim McGraw’s career, with elements of true country music, but also an exploration of contemporary features. McGraw’s unique life lessons and experiences give the album a sense of sincerity and honesty. For example, he addresses his alcoholism and the near destruction it caused his family on some of the songs on this record.

A collection of tracks, dripping with McGraw’s first-hand passion and experience, ‘Damn Country Music’ represents the cost of that raw drive and dedication to something you love.

‘Damn Country Music’ is available now via Big Machine Records.
