EP REVIEW : Aaron Krause - 'Jade EP'After Releasing his first EP ‘Holding onto love’ in September 2014, Aaron Krause returns with a new EP, ‘Jade’. A beautiful release filled with thoughtful lyrics, beautiful harmonies and an intertwining of different genres that pulls you in and keeps you coming back for more.

Aaron Krause is well known in his native Nashville as a songwriter who is wise beyond his 23 young years. Also known for his well-crafted melodies Kruase has started to receive an increased amount of critical acclaim within the broad music community and his peers. To add to that Aaron is well versed with mixing different styles to create the sound that suit’s his writing the best. This is something that adds a greater appeal to his music, as it is likely to contain something for everyone.

‘I will Wait’ offers a stunning vocal over a shuddering indie rock track reminiscent of MGMT or The Neighbourhood. The heavy use of synths and huge drum patterns create a broad sound that keeps you engaged –  mix that with the artists writing ability and you get a song that will appeal to a diverse group of listeners, which is something Krause should be commended for.

The title track ‘Jade’ is a well written electronic indie-pop song with melodic drum patterns, synths and intense harmonies. Through the incredible use of guitar and simple piano chords, the song has many fluent layers and showcases his songwriting ability. The remix by ‘Mason Self’ mixes the track with hard-hitting electronic synths, whilst holding onto the beautiful melodies of the song with the additional use of the violin and piano.

A well crafted EP that which shows off Krause’s ability to not only write but also create music that will appeal to fans of varied genres. This EP certainly appears to be a solid foundation for what could be an interesting musical journey for the Nashville singer songwriter.
