Texas Rapper J’Moris is back with a swagger packed EP ‘RNB’. The EP is following his EP ‘Extra’ released last year. ‘RNB’ has quickly brought J’Moris comparisons to rappers like Gucci Mane and Big K.R.I.T. While he does compare to those J’Moris brings a unique style as a rapper. He blends southern rap, classic no holds barred hip hop, and modern trap.
RNB kicks it off hot with the track ‘Pretend’ and sets the tone for what is to follow. Following the chorus has J’Moris with impressive bars right off the bat. The track is followed with ‘Do My Thang’ which has well thought out rhymes. It is a trap song but J’Moris doesn’t follow the standard with mumble rap so that you can hear each lyric he wrote. The two work together as a 1,2 punch to hype the rest of the EP.
‘Get This Money’ is the weakest track of the EP but still has some elements to appreciate. The chorus is catchy and easy to sing along to. The lyrics of this song don’t match the bar that J’Moris set on some of the other tracks.
The beat for ‘Lights Down’ set this song apart as it teams with strong lyrics and vocals. J’Moris is unapologetic with being explicit and this song is just that. It is a tough track and is the most re-listenable of the EP.
When you listen to J’Moris it is easy to tell music has been a big part of his life. He has a passion and swagger for his rap that translates through the music. He has taken pieces from hip hop greats and made these skills his own. Listening to ‘RNB’ has me excited for what is next for the Hillsboro rapper.
