The period between Christmas and New Years is often a lull. With people generally relaxing after too many arguments over monopoly at Christmas and saving themselves for New Years Eve.
This hasn’t stopped Solo Danza from going big for their sixth anniversary. Starting in a basement six years ago, the promoter has curated events all over London, involving many big house and techno names like Black Coffee, Martin Buttrich and Loco Dice.
For this winter warmer, they welcomed Andrea Oliva who had one of the hits of the summer this year with his Welcome To The Jungle remix. He was joined by Dennis Christopher and Neverdogs for the night’s festivities.
Neverdogs played a bouncy set, full of summery vibes. Enclosed in Village Underground’s giant walls, you could be forgiven for feeling maybe it was still July. With sometimes discoy and sometimes deep housey beats, across a varied and dynamic set, the had the crowd in good spirits throughout their set.
It was then time for the headliner Andrea Oliva to step up to the decks. Presenting a high energy set. Full of massive builds including Four Tet’s remix of Opus, unlike Opus these builds were followed by equally big drops. The crowd’s whoops and cheers showed their appreciation for showed their love for the Andrea. Mixing strong elements of tech, deep and progressive house across his set, Andrea demonstrated his skill as an ANTS and Hï Ibiza headliner.
As the night drew to close, there was nothing left to do but reflect on a great last club night for 2017. I hope everyone is as hyped as I am for what 2018 could bring.
